¡Una noche de sorpresas! Así podemos definir la entrega numero 68 de los premios Emmy que fueron entregados el Domingo 18 de Septiembre.
Game of Thrones y American Crime Story: The People VS O.J. Simpson confirmaron su favoritismo, y se llevaron la mayoría de los premios, pero nadie esperaba es que las categorías y los actores de reparto fueron dominados por otros nombres. Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline) y Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey) derrotaron a Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke y Maisie Williams, los grandes favoritos para llevarse algún galardón.
GoT, sin embargo, fue consagrada de nuevo la mejor serie dramática, pero el año que viene va a estar fuera de la competencia debido a la postergación de la séptima temporada.
Otros ganadores notables de la noche fueron Rami Malek, de Mr. Robot, y Tatiana Maslany, que finalmente se llevó la estatuilla a Mejor Actriz en Serie Dramática por Orphan Black. Entre las comedias, el tradicionalismo reinaba con las victorias de Julia Louis-Dreyfus de Veep, y Jeffrey Tambor de Transparent.
Para las categorías de series limitadas (o miniseries), la serie ganadora tenía un sólo nombre: American Crime Story: The People VS OJ Simpson. La única categoría en la que la serie de Ryan Murphy no tuvo premio fue actriz de reparto, que fue una vez más a las manos de la bella Regina King, por su trabajo en American Crime.
Las grandes olvidadas y que debían conseguir, al menos, un premio por su excelente desempeño, historia y producción fueron Fargo y The Americans. Habrá que ver si con la salida de Game of Thrones de la premiación (por los motivos dichos anteriormente) se abre la posibilidad de que más series sean las ganadoras
